It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Anne Trosien on February 17, 2023, at the age of 81. Sandra passed away peacefully at Carlton Poet's Corner in Pleasant Hill, California. Born on July 26th, 1941, in Ontario, Canada, Sandra was the daughter of Bertram Andrew Hortop and Jeanette Louise Knight. She was a remarkable woman who accomplished much in her lifetime. Sandra graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where she earned various degrees including two Master's Degrees. She later became a gifted education coordinator for Wayne and Washtenaw counties, making a significant impact on many young lives. Sandra was a woman of many interests and talents. She had a diverse array of hobbies, including cross country skiing and traveling. Sandra also had a deep passion for learning and reading, which she shared with her students and family. In retirement, she found immense joy in spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Her loving spirit and wide-ranging interests will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Kenneth Robert Trosien, and her two children, Andrew Harold Trosien (Trang) and Erin Ré Carreras (Jack). She was a devoted grandmother to her five grandchildren, Quynh, Hanh, Thao, Luke, and Lila, who meant the world to her. She is also survived by her sister Mary and her brothers Robert and KC. The family plans to hold a memorial service in Michigan at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association or a charity of their own choosing in honor of Sandra's memory. Sandra will always be remembered for her kind heart and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and students. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
