Obituary

Rev. Heneli He'ehau Halaliku

Resident of Concord

Sept 17th, 1965 - Apr 4th, 2023

Rev. Heneli Halaliku "Hene" passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 4th after a tragic car accident. Hene was reverent at his church "Siasi Tonga Tau'ataina" of Pittsburg where he dedicated and spent most of his life serving.

Hene was born in Ha'afeva, Tonga Island where he grew up and attended his first primary school years. He then went onto the big island of Tonga where he continued to stay while attending school at Tailulu College. In 1980, he traveled to the United States for the first time where he resided for most of his life until he crossed over.

In 1992, he met his beautiful late wife Akosita Falekakala, the love of his life, whom he married shortly after. Due to her battles with ovarian cancer, they were unable to have children. Until1996, they were given an adorable baby boy whom they named Henry. They lived and dedicated their lives to this little boy while committed to their duties at church. In the same year, they also raised a niece as their daughter and an older sister to their son (the daughter of Akosita's older sister).

In 2016, Hene visited his home in Tonga not knowing it would be the last time, to receive and be ordained a reverent of his church; a duty he proudly served and dedicated his life to besides his family.

Sadly in September 2018, his wife crossed over to the other side after losing a battle with GI cancer. Life was never the same but he managed to remarry after 2 years and continued serving his duty at church.

Hene is survived by his 2nd wife, Fine Paeahelotu; his son Henry Halaliku; his niece Koloa Filimoehala, and three of her children he loved and cared for as his grandchildren Frederick III, Sita, and Dahlia Corpuz. He is also survived by 9 siblings; 5 brothers and 4 sisters back home on Tonga Island, and countless nieces and nephews. He was the 2nd oldest child out of 11 children and the oldest son. Hene was a humble man of very few words and he dedicated most of his life and work to serving his church community. All who knew and were close to him will miss his kind, loving spirit.
