Maynard Leo Childers passed away in Hayward CA on Wednesday Feb 8, 2023 at the age of 82.
Maynard was born in Maryland and as a young man he joined the US Army and was sent to Northern California where he served at the Nike missile site on Bollinger Canyon. He met and married his first wife Virginia Joyce. They had one daughter, Cynthia Childers.
Maynard went on to receive a bachelor of arts degree in 1972 from Cal State San Francisco. He worked at Safeway and other jobs while attending college to support his family. Always hard working he had a decades long career in landscape irrigation contracting.
Maynard met and married Linda Childers and they shared her two sons, David Tara of Santa Monica CA and Darin Tara of Concord CA who Maynard raised after Linda’s passing.
Maynard and his wife Abby Childers had one son Brian Childers of Warner Robins GA who provided him with two beautiful granddaughters Mya Childers and Shaylee Childers.
His love of hot rods and restoring old cars was a favorite pastime of his. He enjoyed attending car shows with family and friends and vacationing in Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Luciano of Byron GA survived by sisters Nancy Franks of Byron GA and Brenda Doetzer of Baltimore MD.
