Lowell Bruce Day

Resident of Antioch CA.

Former Resident of Lancaster CA.

April 12, 1955 - Oct. 16, 2022

Lowell Bruce Day passed away Sunday with his wife Karen and her brothers Alan and John at his side. He endured a brief, but intense bout of cancer. Bruce’s life was marked by his generosity, kindness, unselfishness, and loving demeanor to all.

Bruce was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to LeGrand and Ulla. He had two brothers: Larry and Chris. The family moved to Southern California where Bruce attended Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga. He was gifted with his ability to figure out how things worked and he continued his education by becoming a Certified Auto Mechanic from LA Trade Tech. He worked for the Pacific Bell Fleet Management operations for repair of vehicles and parts procurement. Bruce earned an Associate degree in Biomed Technology From Valley College in Van Nuys CA.

Bruce and Karen were married in the LDS Los Angeles Temple in 1988. Their son Jayme was born in 1989. Bruce loved being a father and then years later a grandfather to Jayme’s daughters Casey and Raelyn. He enjoyed his family, football, projects in the home, and the outdoors. Some of his favorite experiences were traveling to Hawaii, to Washington State to visit his brother Chris, to Missouri to pick up his son Jayme from his mission, to R-Ranch in the Sequoias, and to Alaska for his 30th wedding anniversary.

Bruce and Karen moved to Lancaster, CA where he began working for the Los Angeles County Probation Dept. He worked as a group supervisor and retired as a peace officer. After retiring, he continued serving by volunteering for Karen’s 2nd grade class.

Bruce was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed many callings and responsibilities. He enjoyed service, working with the scouts, and studying the gospel of Jesus Christ. His life was marked by his constant willingness to serve and he demonstrated that by giving selfless service as caregiver to his father, mother, and mother-in-law over the course of many years.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents LeGrand Ernest Day and Ulla Britt Day and brother Lawrence Alma Day. He is survived by his wife Karen Louise McCabe Day, his son Jayme LeGrand Day, granddaughters Casey Willow Day and Raelyn Dixie Day, and his brother Delbert Chris Day of Snowflake, AZ.
