Lane was born in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. At 17 years old, he joined the army and was on active duty for 8 years which took him to Japan and Korea for a short time. He then went to college and completed an Associate Degree. Lane loved ballroom dancing and met Veronica at a dance. On August 27, 1960 he married Veronica Spila. They made their home in Seattle, Washington. Lane was employed at Sears Roebuck Company. Two daughters were born while in Seattle: Noreen and Andrea. In 1967 the family moved to Pleasant Hill, California and Lane changed careers. He worked at Carpenter Rigging as a steel rigger while also continuing to serve in the military in the National Guard and then Army Reserves. He retired from the military at age 60 after almost 30 years. He retired from Carpenter Rigging after 27 years of hard physical labor. Lane was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in a variety of capacities in the church. Lane enjoyed the simple things of life: having a dog, eating a plain hamburger, home and car repairs, and trying to help others. Lane is survived by the love of his life, Veronica (whom he always called “angel”), devoted children Noreen Hanna of Lehi, UT, Angie Arcaya (Tom) of Walnut Creek, and grandchildren, Kristen Ence (Alex) of Mapleton, UT, Lindsey Reed (Tanis) of Houston, TX, Robert Hanna (Kailey) of Lehi, UT, Elliot Hanna (Kenna) of Bluffdale, UT, Ashleigh Olsen (Mark) of Orem, UT, Alexander Arcaya of Walnut Creek, and eight great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Ence, Thane Ence, Wyatt Ence, Jade Ence, Olivia Reed, Harrison Reed, Emmett Hanna, and Calvin Olsen. He is survived by his sister Marjorie Kane of Concord. He leaves a legacy of goodwill, generosity, and love of God, country, and family. He will be missed until we meet again. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at 10:30 a.m. and a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 555 Boyd Rd in Pleasant Hill. Burial services will be 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Sacramento Valley, National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd, Dixon, CA.
