Keith Shipherd passed away on June 15 after a brave battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He was born and grew up in the Bay Area for much of his life, graduated from Upper Lake High School in Lake County, and attended Heald College in San Francisco, where he met his wife Debbie. They were married on December 19, 1971, and were proud to be blessed with two amazing daughters, Amber and Leah. He honorably served in the U.S. Army and was also in the reserves. Keith worked at Corban Corporation in Benicia and at Tab Sales in San Francisco for many years. Later he and his nephew Kyle Shipherd started K&K Sales and Service and patented a new mailing machine. Keith lived life to the fullest and was a fierce and passionate competitor, whether waterskiing, playing video games with his daughters, playing cribbage, or racing cars. His racing career spanned over more than thirty years. He owned and drove a Wingless Spec Sprint, racing at tracks throughout California and Nevada. Keith also enjoyed camping, vegetable gardening, and was a lifelong dog lover. His fun loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Keith is survived by his wife Debbie; daughters Amber and Leah Shipherd; sister Marillyn Johnson (Ed); sister-in-law Joanne Shipherd, sister-in-law Sharon Gardner (Robert); nieces and nephews Mark Johnson (Denise), Raye Elaine, Holly McKelvey (Daniel), Rebecca Green (Arla), Kyle Shipherd (Michelle); many great nieces and nephews and even a great great nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents Marguerite and Frank Raymond Shipherd, and brother Kent. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 18, with an open house from 1-5pm. Please contact Debbie for directions and to RSVP at (925) 586-3384 by July 10th.
