James Melvin Barklow
Sept 18, 1944 - May 14, 2021
Born in Oakland, California to Melvin and Helen Scott Barklow. In Jr. High he enjoyed building his own motorized minibike and go cart. In 1962 he was in the first graduating class of Skyline High School.
He served with Naval Air maintaining the aircraft aboard the USS Hornet. He enjoyed fishing, building and flying model airplanes, customizing his Harley, repairing his Monterey fishing boat and working on projects around the house.
He leaves behind his wife, Dee, stepchildren Leann, Dean, Valerie, step grandchildren Nicole, Danny, Trey, Lauren, Annie, Joseph, Sarah, David and five great step grandchildren; brothers, Ron (Vi) of Rio Vista, Bob (Lori) of MN, many nieces, nephews and good friends whose company he enjoyed.
In his later years he suffered from Ataxia leaving him unable to enjoy the things he loved most. A special thank you to his good friend Michael Johnson who assisted with projects and repairs that had become difficult, and to the one Jim thought of as a son, Steve Bradley, faithful and devoted until the end.
Jim's Memorial Mass is planned for 11:30 AM Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill.
