Hilda Schroettner passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021. She will always be remembered for her loving, compassionate spirit.
Hilda was born in a small village on the Austrian Hungarian border. As a teenager during World War II, life was never easy. After the war, her family was sent to live as refugees with famers in Bavaria, Germany. When, she was 16, she went with her father to live in the USA. The rest of her family came a few years later. While living in New York City, she taught herself English by going to the movies. She eventually moved to California with her family to be close to her brother. She worked for over 35 years for Valley Manor Rehabilitation Center in Concord, CA as a nursing assistant where she received several awards for her great service, dedication, and caring to their residents. She enjoyed a simple life with her family.
Hilda is survived by her brothers, Johann Schroettner of Lafayette, CA and his wife Donna, and Rudy Schroettner of Mill Valley, CA. She is also survived by one nephew, Robin Schroettner of Walnut Creek, CA. Her generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
There will be a small graveside service 11 AM, Nov. 16, 2021 at Lafayette Cemetery, 3285 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette, CA .
