Resident of Walnut Creek, California (and Daly City, California)
September 24, 1931 - February 24, 2022
After a short illness, Esther Polyxena Lobo passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 11:09 PST. Esther touched many lives with her incredible sense of humor, gentle spirit, and zest for life. Even when frail, Esther was a huge presence. She was always ready to engage in any conversation or debate, always in the foreground and never in the background. At the age of 90, her most recent hobbies included perusing Facebook and her iPad, listening to music, and keeping up with US politics. She had a sharp memory and could remember phone numbers and birthdays of everyone in the family.
Esther is survived by her devoted children: Richard Lobo of Daly City and Melanie Moniz (Tony) of Walnut Creek. Her third child, Mark Lobo, passed away on September 25, 2013. William Lobo, Esther’s devoted husband, also passed away on August 31, 1990. She is also survived by her two grandsons, Nathan and Jeremy Moniz. She also had five siblings who preceded her in death, Ceatan (Alcina), Nazario (Teresa), Remy (Flora), Ida (Fidelis), and Belinda (Alfie). Esther is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and God children in England, India, Australia, Canada, and the United States. Esther was known to keep in touch by phone, email, and Facebook with all her family and friends all over the world.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Concord on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 11:30am. A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
The mass on 3/26 will be live-streamed via the St. Francis of Assisi website and on Facebook. (See Live-Streamed LINK below)
