Charlie Lawrence “Larry” Peters, Jr., 76, of Alamo, California, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 surrounded by his family. Larry graduated from Pittsburg H.S. in Pittsburg, CA in 1962. He attended and played football for Brigham Young University. Larry also served on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the New England States Mission. Larry was always an overachiever who was driven to be number one. This was supported with his many Salesman of the Year awards from Lederly Pharmaceuticals and GTE Sylvania. Then, as Larry phrased it, “I was given the opportunity to start my own company”, and he successfully did!
In 1983, Larry became Founder and Chief Executive Officer of West-Com which quickly became an industry leader. With his innovative thinking, quick charm, and drive to always succeed, Larry was able to create a successful, close-knit family, business. Larry had a gift of making you feel you were close and part of the family. He could sit down at any table and keep everyone’s attention. Larry had hobbies that seemed to always turn into a passion. He had national award-winning dogs, one-of-a-kind automobiles, and unique custom shirts that only he could wear. His stories were told so well, and with such sentiment and emotion, you never knew for sure if it was a true story or a good joke.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Lawrence Peters, Sr., and Dawna Peters, and Denise McDonnell-Peters. Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Donley; his brother James Peters (Brenda); daughter, Denice Osterloh (Mike) and their eight daughters; Sons, Marc Peters (Liz), Sean Peters (Julie), and Jonathan Peters. His grandchildren: Claire, Cole, Allyson, Kelsey K, Sage, Jordan, Peyton, Connor, Hayden, and Covin as well as dozens of cousins and scores of nieces and nephews, and of course all the people whom he made feel like they were his family.
Visitations may be made with mask and proper social distancing, today, Friday, Dec. 18th, 5 to 8 PM at OAK PARK HILLS CHAPEL, 3111 N. Main St., Walnut Creek, CA. Services and burial will be private.
