Born October 21, 1933 to Jessie and Ruby Bond in Plainview, Texas. During the summer months of his high school and college years, he ran a harvesting combine for his parents. He attended college at Texas A&M, where he received his masters degree in Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering. He played the coronet in the marching band during both his high school and college years. After graduating college, he joined the Air Force in San Antonio for a 2 year tour and was transferred to the Vandenberg Air Force Base where he was honorably discharged in 1960 as an Airman, 2nd. Class. After working in the oil fields for several years in Texas and New Mexico, he moved to California where he met and married Dian Carolyn Bond in 1965. His career as a Natural Gas Reservoir Engineer at Pacific Gas & Electric spanned over 30 years, where he helped to design and maintain numerous natural gas storage well fields in Los Medanos and McDonald Island, CA. They had two sons, Stephen (1967) and Jason (1970). Charlie dutifully cared for Dian, who suffered many years of colon cancer and finally Alzheimers, eventually passing in September of 2020. After a fall in June, Charlie’s health rapidly deteriorated and he passed away on July 22, 2021. He is survived by his sons Stephen and Jason, Stephen's wife Gisela, and their children Nicolette and Corey Bond. A viewing will be held at the Oak Park Hills Chapel in Walnut Creek, CA on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 6 pm.
