We are saddened to announce the passing of Bertil “Bert” M. Enstrom on May 31, 2022 in Walnut Creek. He passed away peacefully of natural causes.  He was born in Alameda, CA in December 1929. He was preceded in death by his father Carl Enstrom, his mother Ingeborg Enstrom and his brother Carl Enstrom.
After attending college for a short period, Bert was drawn to join the Navy. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean War, serving on a seaplane tender. A highlight of his navy career was observing atom bomb testing in the early 1950s at Eniwetok Island in the Marshall Island group.  After an honorable discharge, Bert worked for Pacific Bell for 38 years. Starting at an entry level position, he worked his way up to Engineering in San Francisco where he served in Equipment Engineering, Plant Extension, Financial Management and Special Services Engineering. Snow-skiing, swimming, walking, music and carpentry were some of his hobbies. At home, Bert kept busy adding a new kitchen and bedrooms to their home. After retiring in 1991, Bert & Gloria enjoyed European travel and roaming in their 34 ft recreational vehicle to many of the 48 states including Alaska. Bert served as president of the Moraga Historical Society, his church council, and the Telephone Pioneers.
