Stanley Gene Lunt, a resident of Martinez, CA, passed away peacefully in his home in Martinez on December 22, 2017 at the age of 80.
Stanley Gene Lunt was born on January 11, 1937 in Miami, Arizona. The fifth child of Sabra Jacobson and Sylvan Lunt.
Stanley graduated from Miami High School in 1955. At the age of 19, Stanley served a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Oregon, Idaho and Washington. He went on to attend college and in 1960, graduated from Brigham Young University, with a degree in business. He later earned a Masters Degree in Accounting. While attending BYU Stanley met and fell in love with Marjorie Hendershott, they were wed on December 21, 1960. Together they had 4 biological children, 5 adopted children, 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and another on the way.
Stanley was a very kind, loving, compassionate and charitable man. Alongside his wife, he served as a foster parent for over 50 years. Together, they have cared for over 150 foster children. He also worked as an accountant for Contra Costa County for a number of years.
One of Stanley’s favorite hobbies was building guitars and collecting exotic woods from all over the world. Stanley would take his hand selected pieces of wood and turn them into beautiful guitars and ukuleles. He created magnificent artwork.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Marjorie Lunt; children, Adrienne Lunt-Edwards, Heather Williams (Troy), Nathaniel Lunt (Cristen), Ann, Jonathan and Ronnie Lunt; grandchildren, Brooke Edwards, Candace Ng (Wei Kian), Parker (Ashley), Makaela and Alexis Williams, Louis Lunt and Bella Lunt; Great-granddaughter Oakley Williams; brothers, Lawrence, Gerald, Martin,and Roger.
He is preceded in death by his parents Sylvan and Sabra Lunt; sister, Virginia Nicoson and son Gordon Lunt.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00am, viewing 10:00am, at: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 555 Boyd Rd, Pleasant Hill, CA. All are welcome to attend.
