Welcome to the memorial page for

Shad Albert Bell

September 10, 1976 ~ April 29, 2017 (age 40)

Shad Bell abruptly passed away on Saturday, April 29th. If you had ever arranged to meet him somewhere this shouldn't come as a surprise—Shad was always early.

A giant man with a wicked sense of humor, Shad really dug painting miniatures. He was always good humored in public, mostly good humored in private, and unless you were an ISP who wouldn’t fix the wifi immediately, was always patient, and kind. If he hadn’t found his path as a teacher/trainer, Shad could’ve worked for Trivial Pursuit writing answers for the Star Wars Edition. In galaxies far, far away, he was drawn to the dark side, but IRL he was a raging left-wing dude from Texas who battled injustice with a creative vocabulary for insults.

Shad was an animal lover who immersed himself in the natural environment through illegally downloaded documentaries. He had thousands of songs in his collection, but rarely sang the correct lyrics. And his closets were filled with jerseys for his favorite teams, but his only sport was skiing because the AC was so good.

He was preceded in death my his mom, Becky. Survived by his father Bill, step mom Jackie, close extended family in Texas and Missouri, far extended family in Australia and New Zealand, and his Aussie wife, Jane Goodwin-Bell, who was always late.

In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in his name to one of the following charities:

American Civil Liberties Union, (ACLU)

Planned Parenthood

Natural Resources Defense Council

The Salvation Army
