Mary Lou RoushJuly 21, 1924 ~ December 3, 2017 (age 93)
Mary Lou Roush passed away last Sunday at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek after suffering a stroke.
Mary was born in Piper, Iowa, one of 7 children born to Arthur and Rebecca (Sylvester) Michael. She lived in and around Rockwell City, Iowa until about 1942 when she moved to Rockford, Illinois where she met Leon Willis Roush. They were married in Dubuque, Iowa on April 18,1944. Leon served in the Navy during WWII. After he returned from the war they continued to live in northern Illinois until 1978 when they moved to Alamo, California.
Mary was a homemaker all of her life. Mary was also a gourmet cook and enjoyed volunteering her cooking talents at various churches throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and was also an avid candy maker. She was also a die hard Cub fan and nothing made her happier than to see her beloved Chicago Cubs win the World Series.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, her parents, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Combs (Edward) of Clayton and a son Thomas Roush (Christine) of Pleasanton.
Mary was blessed with eight Grandchildren: Kathleen Haugan (Dave), Steven Combs (Katrina), Douglas Combs (Jennifer), Deborah Baker (Judson), Erica Westphal (Matthew), Michael Roush (Mari), Rebecca Hunter (Will), and Allison Roush; 20 Great-Grandchildren: Aimee, Erik, David, Jonathan, Michael, Emily, Ashley, Rachel, Tyler, John, Christina, Ellie, Justin, Joshua, Madelyn, Alaina, Miranda, Elliot, Ethan and Andrew, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends & Family are invited to a memorial service 1:30 pm, Monday, December 11, 2017 at the San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church, 902 Danville Blvd, Alamo, CA. Please express condolences at oakparkhillschapel.com
