Pearl Marie Renshaw
Resident of Martinez
Aug. 7, 1931 – Feb. 21, 2018
Marie passed away peacefully last Wednesday at her home with family by her side. Born in Trail, British Columbia, Canada to Gunnar and Evelyn Sorensen, she was the oldest of seven children. She grew up in Trail, where she graduated from Trail-Tadanac High School, and later attended the local business college.
Marie met Charles Renshaw when he served as a missionary in western Canada, and they were later married in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They raised their six children and enjoyed nearly 60 years together before Charlie’s passing in 2014. Marie was a devoted and loving wife, mother and homemaker and dedicated herself to her family. She was also devoted to her faith, and as a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marie gave much loving service to others throughout her life. When her children grew older, Marie worked as a secretary for a local labor council. Her many talents and interests included sewing, quilting, and other handiworks, oil-painting, family history, gardening, and backyard-birdwatching. In more recent years she became an enthusiastic Warriors and Oakland A’s fan. She was also a proud, long-time member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Marie is survived by her devoted children, and their spouses, Leeanne (Dale) Cadwallader, Lori (James) Pierce, Lynda (Lowell) Nelson, Lance (Jeralee) Renshaw, Loel (Dana) Renshaw, Lex (Melinda) Olorenshaw; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren, with four more on the way! She is also survived by her sisters Grethe Nielsen, Charlotte Campana, Karen Berukoff and Diane Doumont, and her brother Chris Sorensen. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Charlie and her sister Sylvia Spatari.
Her Christ-like love and influence is forever etched in our hearts. She will be dearly missed - ‘til we meet again...
