Nunzio "Nick" GiordanoMay 27, 1927 ~ August 2, 2017 (age 90)
Nunzio (Nick) Giordano
May 27, 1927 – August 2, 2017
Nick Giordano passed away peacefully on August 2, 2017 at his home in Walnut Creek, CA at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn (Kay) who passed away in 2002.
He was born in San Jose, CA and served honorably in the US Army, married Kay in 1948 and raised 3 children, Steve, Ken and Denise in Pleasant Hill, CA. He worked for Kronke Awning Company and later became an Orinda Fireman, holding down two jobs to support his growing family. An avid golfer he joined Contra Costa Country Club in Pleasant Hill, CA in 1969 and achieved a 3 handicap rating. The ‘Club’ was their second home where they developed many friendships lasting until his passing.
Nick started a small upholstery business in his garage in 1975 at their home in Pleasant Hill. He had no engineering degree but could design templates for plastic windshields, custom seats and golf cart enclosures on scratch paper. His creative skill and business acumen led to starting a small business, later becoming Nick’s Custom Golf Cars. In 1985, his son Ken joined him in expanding the business and later relocating to Benicia and Rocklin, CA. Together they grew the company to two locations with 20-25 employees selling golf carts, industrial vehicles, parts and service to customers throughout Northern California.
He worked in the business until recently when his illness precluded him from doing so. He loved his employees as much as his family, arriving every morning and greeting each one individually. His sales enthusiasm, determination and creativity will be missed.
His memory will be cherished by his three children: Steve (Ann) Giordano, Ken (Kathy) Giordano, Denise Giordano (Larry) Bobb and by Betty Treanor, a dear friend and loving companion for many years.
His Grandchildren: Steven (Jesse) Giordano, Christopher Giordano, Brian Giordano, Amber Giordano, Randal Beiriger and Emily (Marco) Pozzobon.
His great grandchildren who continuously brought a smile to his face: Karley and Emma Giordano, Mason, Sierra and Greyson Giordano and Luca James Pozzobon.
The family will hold a private ceremony for the interment of his ashes next to Carolyn Giordano at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette.
