Jimmy ‘Don’ Williams, 66, of Lafayette passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 4, 2017 after an extended illness. Don was born to the late Neuman Leon Williams and Wava Perry Williams on May 9, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was raised in Memphis and graduated from Treadwell High School. After attending State Technical Institute at Memphis, he moved to Connecticut and took a technical programming job with General Reinsurance. In the early 1980’s he moved to northern California to take a position with McKesson Corporation where he worked for about 20 years. He later graduated from Saint Mary’s college with a degree in business administration. Don is survived by his wife of 24 years, Elaine Carroll, his daughter, Brenna Williams, and his sister, Cathy Lynn Cheverton of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Neuman Perry Williams, and his parents, Neuman and Wava Williams.
Don will be missed dearly by his family and many good friends. A devoted husband and father, he was actively involved in raising his daughter, Brenna, and loved every minute of it. After retirement Don was always busy with his many interests including ham radio, softball, woodworking, developing computer applications, enjoying and collecting music, and doing loads of projects around the house.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Perpetua Catholic Church in Lafayette. A reception will follow at the family home in Lafayette. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you kindly send contributions the National Alliance to End Homelessness.
