Helen Olsen Celestre

January 30, 1923 — February 14, 2017

Helen Olsen Celestre passed away on Valentine's Day after a long and brave struggle with Dementia. She was born in Moroni, Utah to the late John LeRoy and Ethel Oman Olsen. Her sweetheart of 66 years of marriage, Umberto "Bud" Celestre, preceded her in death in 2011. She is survived by her devoted children Michael and his wife Dr. Kathleen Grannan, daughter Linda and her husband James Mahoney and son Steven and his wife Kathryn Butler. She is also survived by one sister, Rheta Cluff of Hurricane, Utah.   Loving  grandmother of nine grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.

After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II,  Helen called Lafayette her home for the past 63 years.

She spent her life serving others and enjoyed reading, crochet, knitting, embroidery, cross word puzzles, playing the piano and was an amazing cook.

Our Mom and Grandma will be missed dearly and was an inspiration to us all.  Her sense of calm and deep loving devotion, throughout her entire life, will be remembered forever within the entire Celestre family.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 2369 Overlook Drive, Walnut Creek, and will begin at 11:00 AM.
