Dean Vincent Ligman

May 24, 1931 – May 25, 2017

Dean passed away peacefully at his home in Lafayette, CA.

Dean Vincent Ligman was born on May 24, 1931 and raised in Chicago, IL.  He attended South Shore High School.

Dean enlisted in the Army in 1951 and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars.  He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1953.

Dean enjoyed a successful career in the insurance business, where he made many friends and traveled frequently.  He married and had three children, Jeff Ligman (born 1958), Susan Casey (born 1960) and Greg Ligman (born 1964).  His career carried the family from Illinois to California, Tennessee, Minnesota, Texas, Pennsylvania, and back to Illinois.  In his retirement, he escaped the Chicago winters and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he enjoyed a longer golf season and driving his convertible with the top down.

He loved time with family, travel, golf, golden retrievers, movies, magic, Scrabble, poker, gambling, painting, fine dining, art, opera, crossword puzzles, and Jeopardy.  He also loved bragging about his children and grandchildren.

Dean loved to entertain and all who met him were drawn to his charm.  We have many silly memories. He will be well remembered for his warmth and playful sense of humor.

His family will be celebrating his life privately.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or NORCAL Golden Retriever Rescue.  Please share condolences, pictures, or memories with the family, here on this webpage.
