Arthur G. Collins
Resident of Pittsburg, CA
Arthur (Art) Collins passed away peacefully on January 9, 2018. A wonderful, funny and amazing man, he will be sorely missed.
Art was born in Mexico City, Mexico and immigrated to San Francisco when he was 10 years old. He went to Horace Mann Middle School and Mission High School. He moved with his young family to Walnut Creek and lived there for 30 years.
He was a master craftsman in carpentry and every other aspect of construction. He could build a home from the ground up. He loved to ride his Harley and dirt bike, and loved archery as well. He had a passion for cooking, and was a lover of all animals, especially little dogs.
Art is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Barrios, and her family, Alejandra (Alvaro), Marjorie and Rodrigo. He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Lisa Perry and his grandson, Nicolas. His loving son Richard Collins (Carol), and granddaughters, Ava Rose, and Naneki McCallum. He is survived by his brothers, George, Charles, Philip and sisters, Mary, Annette, and Joanne. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Ruben and Pete, and parents, Celia and Pete. He is also survived by Louise and Howard Harpham.
Art’s favorite thing was to make people laugh. He had a way with words, and quick wit. He was a practical joker, and “told it like it was”. He was fiercely protective of his family, and adored his children and grandkids.
Please join us to celebrate his life on Thursday, January 25th, at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 11 a.m. The address is 433 Moraga Way, Orinda, CA.
